about
There is plenty wrong with this demo. It is very shoddily played and out of time. The structure is a bit all over the place and the vocals are not right, which is because the words are not right. There are some good lyrics, and some bad ones and they don't all make sense of the song. The words definitely need a re-write. The intro would be on a clean-ish electric guitar with some over guitar stuff going on, here it is just acoustic and sounds a bit boring. However, there are some good things. There are lots of nice guitar lines, especially that opening intro/chorus, which would sound great if it was properly played and someone spent a bit of time getting the right sound and tone.Lots of room for harmonies on the other instruments, especially walking bass. It has some nice chord changes and it is a bit different from the usual acoustic stuff I've been writing. It should be a fuzzy song, which I have tried to suggest with the bass effect. It is actually not a Family Matters song, which I imagine as being a more acoustic, pretty album. There is another album which I am writing songs for at the moment, called Songs From The Borderline, but I'm not going to start a new demo album again, that would be silly. They will all just get uploaded here. I could have spent more time making this demo better, but I have a few weeks off in Scotland and I would rather use the precious time getting demos finished than getting demos sounding perfect. I am aiming for 10, which is probably unrealistic. You can definitely hear what kind of song this is as it is already without worrying too much about it. I'd rather write and record "more" than "better", because there is sooooo much that needs to be finished. I hope you like it and can forgive it's many mistakes. If they annoy then give us a few thousand pounds and we can record them properly!
