There is a lot wrong with this song. First off, the melody over the end is completely generic and boring, and I'm sure I have sung that whole "you and me" bit before, exactly the same, in another song. Some of the lyrics are lazy and absolutely need to be changed and the melody verses are just Belfast Moon. In fact the guitar part in the verses might be Belfast Moon too. I'm certain I have used the Chorus guitar changes in plenty of CTA songs before, but this time it feels really obvious. The title might be brilliant, but it is probably terrible. I am quite disappointed with how this one has turned out. It's a shame because there are some nice bits in it too. I was super excited when I wrote it because I have been struggling to start anything for months now. After getting tired of not getting anywhere I detuned my guitar to something strange and this song popped out. I like the guitar part over the end and the finger-pickeyness is generally nice but somehow it doesn't all work that well together. It certainly needs more overdubs (where the drums come in should be where the band comes in) and a bit more care and attention generally, but it could be a better song with a more effort and work (which I am not going to give it). Anyway, I have started a couple more in this tuning, maybe they will be better, and at least it has got me writing again.
