This song really misses the High E. Every last D in the verses wants to go to sus4, but it can't. Why didn't you give me a spare Chris? Having said that, it's still a nice little song. I imagine the verses being sparse. Nothing more than vocals and acoustic guitar with some sqwanky lo-fi background noise, without melody, like when an orchestra tunes up except with only one reverby and slightly distorted guitar. The choruses should burst into life with very little warning, and I wouldn't have any endy/middy backing vocals, the ones recorded should be on different guitar noises, or synths that sound like guitars. This song has a neon green and maroon feeling to me. The drums should have long rolls and fills, rather than classic dum ch, dum dum ch stuff.
