about

This song was written in a place in Spain called Empuriabrava. It is a coastal resort, purpose built from scratch and extremely expensive. It seems to be a place where rich German pensioners go to die, along with their massive boats. It is surrounded by a natural park and in fact used to be a natural park before they built posh houses and canals everywhere. The beach is lovely and the scenery beautiful but the place itself is kind of not that nice.

I lost my shaky egg for this one; I think a child thinks it's a toy, rather than an essential percussive instrument necessary to give these demos a greater element of rhythm and tempo. Luckily I remembered I can clap! Clapping is hard it turns out. I also did some backing vox with a plastic plant pot to create an effect: these songs are getting seriously lo-fi. I mean honestly, we played T in the Park once you know? AFTER the Fratellis. And we did a session with Vic Galloway.

Better days...
